Homelessness Task Force

Homelessness Task Force

The Homelessness Task Force

The purpose of the task force is to work with agencies in Monroe County to support people experiencing homelessness in our community. The task force is engaged in the following activities:

    • A winter clothing drive for men, women, and children in need in Monroe County. We work in association with other congregations in the county as well as other organizations and the Bloomington Fire Department

    • A underwear drive for school children of all ages, again with other churches and organizations

    • Periodic fund-raising events for agencies in the county that focus on homelessness—for example, Shalom Community Shelter and New Hope for Families

    • Prepare breakfasts on a regular basis in the kitchen at Shalom Community Shelter

    • Work with the Religious Education program on education projects for children

Anyone interested in supporting the homeless population of Monroe county is free to join us and anyone with ideas of activities that we could get involved in, related to homelessness, please contact us—Alan Backler 812-340-1323 or Marlin Howard 812-320-5460.
