Amanda Waye joined our staff as Director of Administration in December 2022. In her free time she enjoys reading, drawing, painting, and the vast outdoors.  She has administrative experience in banking and real estate and looks forward to learning more about Unitarian Universalism.

Anabel Watson is looking forward to meeting and growing connections within the UU Bloomington community. Currently a member of Second Unitarian Church of Chicago, Anabel grew up attending East Shore Unitarian in Bellevue, WA for a number of years and attended Cascade Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in East Wenatchee, WA during a year with AmeriCorps. Anabel holds a B.A. in Peace, Justice, and Conflict Studies and a minor in Religious Studies from DePaul University’s Honors Program as well as a DELE level C1 certificate of bilingualism from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport. She has prior work experience in the interconnected spheres of social justice, nature connection, immigrant rights, and sustainability, and as a professional tap dancer..

Director of Religious Education – Stephanie Kimball

Stephanie Kimball joined our congregation in 2005 and joined our staff as Religious Education Coordinator in 2020. She became our new Director of Religious Education as of July 1, 2022. She is active with the Green Sanctuary Task Force on Global Climate Change, and has taught Intersession and preschool Religious Education here. Stephanie is a writer and educator with a passion for pursuing sustainable living and building resilient communities. She enjoys gardening, hiking, dancing, and hanging out with her two kids.

Music Director – Susan Swaney

Susan Swaney was hired as the church’s music director in 1992, as a long-shot candidate with no experience.  Since then, she has learned much from this church and its choir, and has earned a doctorate in Choral Conducting.  In addition, she is Artistic Director of the Voces Novae chamber choir and teaches Voice to Music Theatre majors at IU. Susan is married to therapist/author Ian Woollen, and their son, Jacobsen, is a Music graduate student.

Pianist – Ray Fellman

Ray Fellman (Pianist) lives mostly in Bloomington and occasionally in NYC, with his husband Scott and their rat-huahua, Montezuma Fellhog. Originally from the New York City Area, Ray completed degrees in piano and voice at the Jacobs School of Music in the 90’s and has returned to IU to join the Musical Theatre faculty as an Associate Professor of Voice. Ray served as pianist of the UU Church of Bloomington under Music Director Susan Swaney from 1994-2001 and joyously returned to his post in 2015, where he hopes to remain for all eternity.

 

Multimedia Specialists – Andy Beargie, Hans Kelson, and Brady Egan

Andy Beargie is a videographer who travels widely to make promotional and documentary films. He lives in Bloomington with is wife Addie and their daughter, and has served our congregation as multimedia specialist since 2010.

Parking

There is parking on all sides of the church, with first-time visitor and handicapped parking on the south side. In addition, on Sundays Indiana University allows our congregation to park on David Baker Avenue, the first street south of the church.
